Honestly, a lot of the sources I had went on lockdown after all the Gruden stuff. I'm pretty sure Hocutt is keeping everything close to the vest now, not letting anything leak.

One thing I do know is that Hocutt is in NYC for the AFCA Coaches Conference this week, and has been rumored to be conducting informal interviews to guage interest, and then they'll officially interview candidates either later this week or early next week. Names have ranged from Jim Harbaugh to Mario Cristobal. Malzahn's name has been bandied about by some...but no solid sources, like I said.

Listening to Rivals this morning almost had me thinking Edsall had accepted the job when I first turned over to it.

There's a pretty good contingent of Miami fans that don't want Edsall. I'm hoping against hope that they don't interview him, or he bombs it one. Nice guy, but we need an ass-kicker in charge, not a guy who's another "father figure" like Shannon.

The way Bill King was going on when I changed the channel, I thought for sure he was signed. I grabbed my BB and went to ESPN to see and then he said, he felt like it would be a good hire if Edsall was named.

I read the article on Leach over on Canesports. He is dying for that job. I think the lawsuit is killing his chances. Malzhan would bring alot of that excitment to the offensive side like Leach. But he is unproven as far as head coaching experience. There is an auburn poster that has alot of respect on their rivals site that said Malzhan has been offered and he would accept. I don't know if that is true or not. But I don't think he would be the best choice.

To me the best coaches out there that have had there name mentioned are Pelini and Harbaugh. I don't know if either would take it but if I where Miami those two would be the first two I would be calling....

I think Harbaugh is waiting to see what happens with RichRod or goes to the NFL myself.

Pellini and Harbaugh would both be good fits...but I don't know that Pellini leaves a job like Nebraska to come to Miami. Seems like a lateral move if you're talking historical programs...what I mean by that is--why come to Miami and try to rebuild it when you're in the midst of a thusfar successful rebuild of Nebraska?

Same kinda goes for Harbaugh, though I think more of his pull is to either a) go back to his alma mater in Michigan, or b) head to the NFL. I don't think Miami has enough pull to sway him from either of those. Once upon a time--sure. But the Miami job doesn't hold that kind of gravitas any more.

I'm still e-mailing everyday to Kirby to make sure he knows where the fans stand on the Leach issue. He would be the best fit for us from just about every angle I can look from.

Agreed, I don't see Miami pulling Pellini or Harbaugh. Pellini is in a far more historic program. I believe Harbaugh is getting serious consideration from the NFL and Michigan, another far more history rich program.

The reason Pelini's name came up is because he got into it with administration over the verbal abuse of his players.

Give me Gus. Im not worried about his lack of experience. I think wherever he goes, hes going to be great. Hes won everywhere hes been. I think I read where he won 3 state titles with 3 different high school teams.

Looks like the final 4 that Hocutt's going to look at doesn't include Leach...which disappoints me. Now--keep in mind that Kirby said something to the effect of: "We're going to go out and find the best available coach in America" during his presser after Shannon was fired.

Now here's the list: Tuberville, Sumlin, Edsall, Golden.

Do any of those guys look like the "best available coach in America" to you guys? Or am I just delusional?
